Voigtländer Ultron 21mm f/1.8

Hmm... a super fast 21mm M mount - I always wonder about that sort of lens. That is, the DOF is almost non-existent as one goes wider so maybe Keith has a point. A 28mm equivalent for M8 users. A "32mm" for Fuji or Epson users. But as an M-Mount lens (for, say, the M9 or film M7) unless you're shooting your day away in low light, I wonder how often one would use the wide open aperture.

At a minimum distance of 1.5 ft (0.5m) I don't know how useful this lens would be to me. That said, I'm sure there are a lot of folks who will like/want this and the mere fact that CV continues to produce lenses that are affordable and interesting is a good thing in my book.

Had there ever been a half frame lens with M-mount (visible in the picture)? THAT would be a bigger news.

It is a M-mount lens - thus full frame. Size is the similar to the 35mm f1.2 - not small by any means, but then it is a f1.8 (smaller than the Summilux 21f1.4 - and 1/5 of the price). Front element is slightly larger than the 35f1.2 - (58 mm versus 52 mm). It has been in the works for about 15 month.

I wished for a 21/2 some time ago, but I was thinking more in line of the Zuiko 21/2, which is almost half the weight (250g vs 412g) of this gargantuan.. Not entirely convinced by this Cosina effort, but I'll probably buy one anyways to try out..
