Voigtlander 15/4.5 15mm

While my Voigtländer Super-Wide Heliar 15 mm 4,5 worked very well with my M8, it is not much of a performer on my M9. This is due to more vignetting and - and the Italian Flag Syndrome.

Compared to my WATE there still was a difference in corner sharpness even with my M8. But compared to the WATE on the M9 the VC 15 falls through completely as inferior. In addition; the Italian Flag.

The CV 15 is a great performer also on the M9 - I respectfully disagree 🙂

You have to fix the red edges (and, when needed, the vignette) with a LCC profile in Capture One. A matter of two seconds for me.
Dont forget, the "italian flag" is also a problem with Leica WA.

An example on M9 (BTW, two exposures stitched for even wider FOV)

This! I wound up with my camera strap in my last batch. 😉

That was a rental lens. Since I got my own, I've only managed to take a picture of an office prank and the giant stuffed crab I keep over my desk. I need to get out more. 😉

I like how you maximized DR with the two exposures, yet it's still very natural looking, no twilight zone effect. Great photo!

These shots make me want one. I can get a LTm version of the lens with finder.

But just found a comment from Ken Rockwell:
"Although wonderful on film, this lens sucks on the M9 because its rear nodal point is too close for the sensor. The left and right sides take on weird color shifts. "

I have a M8.2. Does the lens produce these colorshifts in your opinions?
 
I love this lens.

I purchased the more expensive round, metal 15mm VF to better clear the shutter speed knob of the IIIf. It does that, but the bigger view from the plastic one is better to my eye. I'm a bit disappointed. The metal VF compresses the view into a smaller area, it seems. If you don't need the clearance or care about "looks", I'd recommend the cheaper plastic VF, at least in 15mm.

You would use the 21mm VF for the M8. I don't know which is the better of the 21 VFs, but I would research it a bit; you have more options.

I've used the M-mount, and the ltm versions of the CV 15/4.5, both work great on M8s.

I have the M8 and at times there is a bit of cyan, but otherwise it is great.
 
Great shots here with the CV wides - I especially like Ed's shot of Central!

I use my 15mm not very often, but had it in the bag and occasionally on camera during the last days in Shanghai:

Ok. you guys made me buy this lens! ;o)

Picked it up yesterday. It's really a nice small lens. I like it. I tried it with my leica 24 mm finder. If you use the whole finder it should be fairly accurate. Anybody else use this combo?
