I sincerely hope the published image is photoshopped - it would be near impossible to handle at f/0.95 if it does really focus from infinity to 1m in about 10° rotation...
 
Call me old fashioned but I could see potential for this lens adapted to a half frame Pen FT film camera ... the image circle should be correct!

f 0.95 on black and white 400 film ... seventy two exposures per roll and real grain!

Actually, after checking google the M43 sensor size is 18 by 13.5 millimeters ... a half frame camera's film area is 18 by 12 millimeters!

Explain to me why this wouldn't work ... it should ... and should provide an identical focal length to the output image of both systems.

darnit. when I first saw the angénieux 25mm f0.95 lens on a m4/3 camera I already felt that my firm anti-m4/3 attitude (I really didn't need or want one!) had crumbled a bit.

I hear ya. I was THIS close to bailing out from m4/3, but small, fast lenses like 20/1.7 showed me the potential and benefits of this relatively small sensor system. I'm hoping that this will make trend of manufactures coming up with faster primes instead of super zooms, and will make Olympus to finally produce PEN with built-in EVF. I can't wait to see the pictures from this lens.
 
OK here is a crazy thought.

Maybe, just maybe, Mr. K is secretly working on a Micro 4/3 body WITHOUT auto focusing mechanism. And the saved space will be used to put RF instead of EVF. The whole think can be similar or even smaller than Leica CL or current digital PEN series. Well, regular m4/3 lenses don't have RF coupling so I guess EVF is needed...

And by the time this camera gets the market, CV (and possibly Zeiss) would have several prime lenses for the system.

Now that's the digital camera I can get super excited about. 😀

yeah i heard that if you take 1500 pictures of your cat or back yard you it can cause your a++ pro lens skills to level up to +10 acp/UISD firmware and then you can get protip maneuver skills with those hubcap junction photos you posted last thursday.

The body and lens are with AF functions.

Now, imagine faster than F2 MF only prime, same size body with built-in EVF or optical VF with "digital RF" indicator. (same idea as manual focus indicator dot on some DSLRs) This way, you don't need RF cam and coupling.

Oh I want that camera now. Sorry for drifting off-topic.

If a small body could have a optical viewfinder and selectable points of focus, confirmed with the Canon/Nikon style focus-confirmation for manual lenses, I'd seriously consider it. And get this new 25/0.95 lens for it, too.

Oh, and retro styling please 😀
 
That lens is going to be quite cumbersome on a GF1 (for example) if the dimensions of 58.4mmx70mm are correct and the weight of 410g - that's nearly as heavy as the 50/1.1 and not much smaller than the 35/1.2.
 
If you consider the size, the price of the lens + body to get roughly a 50mm F2 on 35mm film equivalent. For a RF user, I guess that a used M8 + 35mm lens makes more sense, no?
 
My guess is that this thread was an attempt to get a feel for the market..

I don't know how big production runs are, but knowing how many to make in advance is an advantage to any manufacturer. So, how many will be sold in the US market, the EU market, the Asian market? Will they sell more than 3K pieces in the next year? If sales are brisk, what's the next focal length to be offered. It's likely the math (optical formulas) has already been done on several more lenses.. Hummmm
 
The 25/0.95 is the equivalent magnification and light gathering power of a 50/0.95 on the 35mm full-frame. In terms of focusing, it is easier because of the shorter focal length. I do not have trouble using an F1.2 lens with the EP2 and the EVF.

Reminds me that i need to try the Canon 50/0.95 on the EP2.
