Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 ?

There seem to be very conflicting opinions on the 35 f1.4, but I don't hear much about the much larger 35 f1.7 Ultron. Anybody do a comparison?

I read some reports on distortions and sold the lens (stupidly). I will get it back again, when I have money for that.

I think its ALL well and Fine if You do not like the Lens, its purely Subjective

Yes you brought up a Good point, who knows the lens may be crap to the OP once he tries it...
But YOU have crossed the Line in stating

Who has made You the World Authority for judging Photos shot w/ the classic nokton 1.4. 😛...😉
But i will chalk this up to mischosen words, a troll looking for Attention , or just plain silliness

You missed the point in my input: "I have shot this image on that lens THAT IS CALIBRATED TO M BODY. This quality is enough for me."

How do you judge if the quality is good enough for the other guy ?
With images it is easier, you either like them or not... It is that simple...
 
I think the issue here is your calling other people's work crap. You could have written simply that "most of he pictures in this thread don't fully show the strength of the Nokton" or something similar.

RFF tends to be a nice community of generally polite contributor, and it's nice to keep it that way. By no means you are supposed to love every image posted, but if feedback is not expressly requested, why bother with comments like "crap", especially when they are not very constructive?
 
Sorry for being a little too direct on comments on some of the images. It seems some guys here would like to have a bit more explanation:
We in Finland ( the "northern barbarians") have the luck of having the same company as importer for both Leica and Voigtländer. That measn the leica service is ready to check our bodies against factory specs as well as calibrating all lenses both leitz and Voigtländer in optical bench. So we can expect our leica M equipment to perform to the optimum. When propely calibrated, most of the voigtländer lenses are on par with leitz products, but pricewise much more attractive. I am sorry for you other guys that don`t have this service, because MOST of the Voigtländer lenses NEED that calibration. If they were adjusted "spot on"in the factory, the price would be much closer to Leitz products. Actually some of the leica lenses benefit of that calibration too. That leaves still the bodies out, they should be calibrated also, to have all your lenses perform to the optimum. I guess this is the reason why people have so different views on the quality of Voigtländer line of optics. I hope this explanins my view on the subject. There is no point in making comparsions when you don`t know the actual facts of the body/ lens combination.
 
Note to self, keep an eye out for RFF sales from Finland! Wish I had known that when I was in Helsinki last summer, but then again I expect the Euro MSRP is quite a bit higher than the one in the States.

I read reviews and looked at photos and wasn't wowed, but got one to try for myself. I really like the handling for the reasons others have described and I think the images speak for themselves.

I think color is better than 40 cron IMHO, but both good. MC color is bright.

worst thing is you might have read a thread where somebody who should know better goes on and on about how it sucks.

This lens flares pretty easily. This is one of the few times that I didn't mind is so much.
