I just bought a silver Voigtlander 35mm 2.5 Color Skopar from Ebay and it is mint! Wanted to know if anyone has any tips on using this lens?

Mount it on your camera of choice; point it at what you want to photograph and press the button! 😉

From all accounts it's an excellent lens for the money - enjoy.

Great lens like most CV lenses, you cannot fault them optically for great modern lenses.

I have the 35mm f1.7 Ultron and it is my go to lens on my Leica M2, the smaller 35mm Color Skopar would be my choice to use on a Barnack Leica though, as its smaller size would be more appropriate for that svelte less of a handful camera body.

Great lens! There's a few threads on here where people have posted their photos with it. It does have a tendency to flare with strong light sources in the corner, but the hood reduces this significantly (or does on the m-mount version anyway - i'm not sure about the smaller ltm hodd).

It's nice from wide open, but i mostly shot mine around f5.6 or f8. I mostly shot mine on slide film, but I liked it for black and white as well (i've seen criticism that it's too contrasty, but i like a little bite).

I have had two versions both LTM. The first is the "classic" version you bought. Mine was not particularly sharp and I sold it. I then bought the pancake version. They are optically the same, but this example was a better lens. The pancake also has the advantage of an extremely short throw which is good for quick focusing. I use it on my IIIf from time to time. I also have the CV Utron f/1.7 - a better lens especially for b&w but larger - too large for a Barnack. Depends on your camera.

I have the same version, I had to try out a couple different (rather cheap) LTM-to-M adapters before I found one which focused perfectly at infinity and didn't (at least appear to) go slightly past it. As you might expect, the one which cost sub-$10 was the bad one.

It's a great lens: sharp but smooth, medium contrast, good for color and B&W. I bought a couple 39mm filters for B&W and they work well with the hood since they just screw in and the hood screws on top of them. I really can't find anything to complain about with this lens, maybe some distortion to straight lines right on the edges of the frame?

Good lens for any LTM camera. Just don't expect it to be great on BW, the name of this lens is very clear about it 🙂 It is OK lens on BW and very good with colors.
I have tried all three versions of it and first version as in OP was the best in terms of handling. LTM versions are better for flare. I had P version without hood and it was not a problem. PII was flaring without hood.
P has only one meter on short distance, but it is great lens for street photography due to well designed focus scale.
