Voigtlander 40mm S.C. vs MC

I have the multicoated version, here are sample shots:

On the web @ least, I haven't seen much of a difference, if any, between the MC & SC shots.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum.

I'm planning to pick up a R3A as soon as Uncle Sam sends me my tax refund, and I plan to get a CV 40mm with it. As I shoot mostly B&W I am inclined to go with the single coated version. After reviewing the previous posts, I've found some regarding the S.C. version, but not much in the way of comparisons. I also haven't been able to find many photo examples from the MC version...can anyone help me out with this? I'd be interested in any images you could provide, or if there's anyone out there who has used both, I'd be glad to hear from you!

Thanks a zillion!

i've come to the conclusion that this forum is too expensive to visit any longer...😉

Tell me about it.

I've just bought another M, so I'm totally skint for years to come.

I have no money, and no 40 framelines, and here I am torturing myself with thoughts of an SC Nokton.

I really should stop coming here.

i have that damn cl now, complete with 40mm framelines.

makes me wonder if i really need both 50/1.2 and 50/1.5 lenses.
and then there is the incoming 50/2.8 elmar...

maybe the m3 could live with a 90/135 only, as my 'long' camera...

i do think about such things...more often than some might imagine...

and that's exactly why we love you joe 😉

The SC Nokton was on my list for many many months... Sockeyed pictures just nailed it there for a couple years more...

But then, my list is starting to look like a 'I want it all' Xmas wish list, and we all know that doesn't lead to anything good...

That 50/1.5 of yours though... hmm...

Just to help y'all dispense with a bit more money: the image on film of the 40mm Nokton is really not much different than the inside of the 35mm framelines in an M or Hexar - I checked. A little bit of gentle filing on one lug is all that it takes to have it automatically pop up the 35mm framelines (instead of the 50mm).

i had the minolta version with the cle and remember it being a very good lens.
but i like the idea of new and faster too.

just thoughts...

Last week I was goofing around testing Kodak HD 200 in my CL with 40mm Nokton Classic (multi-coated) Thought a photo would be helpful. 😀

i actually have been using my summicron that way. why they don't make framelines that show 100% is beyond me, but in this case i benefit...so i'm happy!
