VOIGTLANDER 50mm f/1.5 II M

[Sonnar Brian]

I like this lens. It is as compact as a vintage Sonnar, sharp, and handles well. Close-focus to 0.7m. Classic styling, nickel and Black finish like the early 1930s Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnars.

I bought the lens last Monday from Cameraquest- was in my hands by Tuesday afternoon.

Smaller than the C-Sonnar.

Focus is perfect on my Leica M9, across range.

I had to build up the RF cam on the 50/1.1 Nokton and 35/1.2 Nokton- they were adjusted for the Bessa film cameras.

Flare-test, shot into the Sun. I bought the Multi-Coated version. 14 air/glass interfaces is a lot for a fixed focal length lens.

Slight color tinging off the leaf to the right. These are with my M9. I will try a UV/IR filter, suspect this is IR leakage. Newer sensors are not as sensitive to IR as are the CCD's used in the M9.

My Deep Backyard.

Setting the aperture to F4 using the "wings" is easy, just turn until they are level with the lens in the horizontal position. Somebody thought about it.
