Voigtlander 50mm f/1 Nokton Images Thread

I have a CV 50/1.1, Erik. The 50/1.0 is a better lens, I feel. Do you agree?

It seems to be sharper, but I haven't seen images on film with the lens. I would like to make comparative test shots on film with the camera on a tripod! But I have only the f1.1 lens. I think the f1.1 lens is more painterly and has a more classic look than the f1.

Hello, Raid, I assume you're asking me this question and the answer is "No" it does not provide autofocus for the Voigtländer 50mm f1 Nokton Aspherical VM lens.

The Sony A7III camera does have some Manual Focus assist features just like all the other modern mirrorless cameras but for the people pictures I've posted in this thread I used the distance scale on the lens; I pre-focus the lens to the distance that I want for the picture. It takes a little practice to get it right but it's easy once one gets the hang of it.

BTW, if you're interested I use the "Voigtländer VM-E Close Focus Adapter II" to mount the 50mm f1 Nokton on my Sony A7III.

I have been using eyesight for focusing wide open the 50/1. Not bad actually. I was once tempted to get a Leica VF but people said it takes too much away from the battery.
What does the close focus adapter let you do with the lens? Focus closer? 🙂

I have been using eyesight for focusing wide open the 50/1. Not bad actually.

Raid, most of my people pictures were shot at f2. Shooting street at f1 is a bit tricky (in my opinion). The focal plain (if that's the correct term) is so razor thin one would be lucky to get any pictures in focus.

When I shoot wide open at f1 my subject is not moving and I'm not moving too! In fact I have a camera function button set to magnify the image for a couple of seconds to help me get the focus right.

Raid, these were shot at f1. The first one I focused on the sign and waited for the woman to be under the sign before I released the shutter. The second one I focused on the front of the chairs.
