Does anyone know what rear lens cap can be used for the Voigtlander Heliar 50mm f3.5 Lens in Nikon rangefinder Mount. The plastic Nikon and metal Nikon rear caps fit very loose, thats sloppy and the Noby Sparrow Contax cap does not fit at all, to tight??? Ideas???

James (a.k.a. Captain) knows a thing or two about the different types of rear lens caps for this lens. Are you out there James?

Cut a slice 1.5 mm (pizza type slice) from the top of a Fuji plastic cannister.
It will fit!

2 good rear caps......

2 good rear caps......

Hi Selma-1
i know only 2 model of rear cap for your lens...
Bessa R2S or a good usable Nikon RF camera.:D :D :D

I have two Voigtlander R2S bodies and Nikon Rangefinder bodies, still need a rear cap that fits. The plastic Nikon ones won't.

No rear cap exsist for Heliar lens.....

No rear cap exsist for Heliar lens.....

On my Heliar, i remember, wasn't good metal nikon rear cap too.:bang:
So i think it's impossible to use a real cap, you can use only migtex artisan cap.;)

The Hansa branded caps are the way to go. Solid Aluminium, unlike some I tried that were like they were made from coke cans. They fit perfectly and more so they look like they were made for the lens completely matching the hood and cap. (Photo attached.) Only problem is they aren't available in all countries. I was aided by a generous forum member to get one from Japan

I have also been aided by a rangefinder forum menber in Japan, He is sending me a Hansa rear cap. It is always great when other members help each other.

Get a new Helios 103 with front & rear caps for less than $30 delivered from Russia & use the rear cap plus use the f1.8 lens for low light when focus distance is over 10 ft. or sell the lens to a Contax or Kiev owner & keep the rear lens cap for the Heliar. Shoot the Heliar at f8 & live forever.

:) Yea!!! Finally, the Hansa rear cap worked fine. Looks like the front hood and front cap, what a nice match. A big thanks to Jon Mitchell, a Rangefinder forum menber, in Japan for his help. Steve.:)

A friend has told me they are already available in Singapore, you just might have to shop around or get your local store to order it in.

Hey Dave.....

I did in fact just buy a new Helios 103 from Fedka (Brand New) and got the lens yesterday......it would not mount my Nikon S3 nor my Bessa R2s.....Yuri said that this lens was made to "different tolerances" and that is a problem for some cameras. I spent over 2 hours trying to wiggle the thing into each camera and it just didn't line up. Yuri will take it back but there's always shipping......FYI.

Initially the Helios 103 did NOT fit on my R2S. Then later it did & clicked right into place but now it doesn't again. It fits perfectly on my SP but don't expect to use it there. I have no explanations. The rear cap fits on the Heliar however so all is not lost. Got a Kiev around here some place I think. :)
