Voigtlander 75/1.8 Heliar Classic Images

I'm very impressed with the performance of the f/1.8 75 Heliar on the M9. I have the older f/2.5 lens too, but it just didn't "snap" on the M9; maybe it's just my lens.

It's been a difficult focal length for me, since I first used it on my M2 which of course has no 75mm framelines. Neither does my Zeiss Ikon, and on the M8 this length is just "too long" for me, with about the same field of view as a 100mm on full frame. So I'm pretty happy with it on the M9 where it works well as a "walkaround" lens...

these pictures are really nice!

I ever tried to use Summilux 75/1.4 (borrow it from my friend). The images are so good!! But the price is too high for me.
I am curious when Voigtlander 75/1.8 is showed on the market.
Now I am very satisfied after use M9.

Thanks, Danny! I think mine was one of the first sold from CameraQuest, in January 2010. But Tom probably saw it before anybody! Sean Reid's subscription site has a favorable review of this lens, comparing it with the Summilux and Summicron and concluding "An interesting option with personality."

Oh, and for what it's worth, the lens is very nearly the classic 5-element Heliar optical design, the main difference being the traditional lone center element is, in this 75/1.8, a cemented doublet though of the same overall negative shape. A true Heliar in spirit, then, and this arrangement looks almost identical to the old 73mm f/1.9 Hektor too.

That's a funny one, Tom!

Here are 2 more, one with the OM-D, the other with the M9

In terms of handling, I actually prefer it on the Olympus. I was surprised, because I thought that wouldn't be the case because of the disproportionate size of lens to camera body. On the other hand, though, 150mm equivalent is not a range I use much.
