I really hope a compact 28mm f/2.8 lens might be next. As someone else pointed out, there aren't a ton of current options out there.

Without Tom A. here to guide and advise Voigtlander is floundering on the 28.

I know Tom would be happy about the new 50 APO, but remember he was a 35mm kinda of guy. He always gravitate toward 35mm, his favorite.
He would be happy about the 35 APO due out shortly.

Tom always shot B&W, the new 50 APO results look good shooting B&W.
I’m sure the new 35mm APO B&W results will look good too.

Hmmm, with so many new lenses being made by Voigtlander, I wonder if they will attempt some new cameras as well one day...

Voigtlander only needs one decent quality M-mount body that works with the most used focal lengths. Make something better than the Bessa R3A or whatever, make it bulletproof or close enough. Bright and clear viewfinder, smooth recock and quiet shutter, and only have one model to minimize costs. Pretty sure this would sell, especially if it's made to the same kind of quality as their new lenses.

I have been anticipating CV to churn out a smallish 28/2.8 since like 2019. Still feel like it's just a matter of time.

To be good and small it would have to be f3.5 methinks. My G-Rokkor is great at f5.6 & f8. How about competion for the Leica f1.4, they have done it for 21mm, for 28mm it should be easier.

Yep. I have the 28/f2 Ultron and it’s a wonderful lens (but big). An optically excellent 28/f2.8 that’s a similar size to the 35/f2 Ultron would be great.

Their retail-recoup price and the market price might be different things. I could see such a Voigtlander M body sell well if it was between the price of the Bessa R3A and the Zeiss Ikon ZM. The Ikon is in the upper limit of what someone will pay for something that isn't Leica, although Voigtlander's reputation may be at the level to ask for Ikon prices, assuming the quality is there. Cosina made the Ikon anyway, so we know it's within their capabilities.

Whether such a price would be worth it for them to make such a camera, I don't know. Considering that they have axed almost all the Bessa line, it doesn't look like Voigtlander were selling a lot of bodies.

While this is probably true (the lack of sales), it’s worth remembering that they axed the Bessa line in 2015, a few years before the ‘film resurgence’.

Given the used price of a Bessa in Aus today, I suspect the market may be a bit more active today than it was then.

How many of you can keep up with the new lenses that are coming to the market and sell your old gear and buy new? I can't. My CV 1.2/35 and Zeiss 2/35 are nice and I've stopped wondering if the new ones will give me better or nicer pictures.

Wish they'd develop some wider lenses. The M-mount world really doesn't need more 35mm lenses. Some small 24mm to 28mm 2.8 lenses that aren't MS Optic or Leica would be amazing.
