Voigtlander Boxes

The green boxes mean the contents are usually better lubricated due to the reflective properties of the box outer so the lenses don't haze from fungus and stuff. The black boxes also push your rangefinder patch out of alignment as they have a higher mass than surrounding air (and green boxes) so the gravitational pull on your RF over time in storage means a CLA is necessary upon removal from storage.

Ooooooooh yeaAAAH !!!!

Both of my CV lenses (21 and 25 in Nikon s mount) came in pale yellow boxes.

Yes, but I believe you're in Canada, and thats my point. Outside the U.S., most CV major rangefinder lenses come in yellowish-green boxes..and within the U.S., official USA distributed ones ussually are in black boxes.

So when someone states what color boxes their CV lenses came in, its worth noting what country the product was sold in when new.

I too believe I'm in Canada, but one of my CV lenses came from Steve Gandy who is California, which I believe is not in Canada, and that lens (a 25 F4) came in a pale yellow box, so who knows?

I could be wrong but I'm sure green boxes are earlier issue boxes and the black later issue, I could be wrong

Monkey wrench time again: I forgot to mention that I also have pale yellow boxes. These contained my R2S body and lenses for it. I tried to upload pics of these here but I am told they are already uploaded to the Bessa Porn thread. I will take other pics of the boxes. I love this stuff.

You mean the U.S. hasn't yet annexed that part of Canada in which you live? :)

IN addition.....Yes, but Steve Gandy (Camerquest) knew you lived in Canada and wanted you to feel right at home by receiving an import box as opposed to the offical USA black standard boxes. :) ...meaning receiving the yellow-green color CV box a Canadian would normally see in their local camrea stores.

(I do hope you know I'm pulling your leg with this one). :)

Yes, David, I do believe I felt the tugging.
But just to muddy the waters further, the camera store here in Toronto that carries the CV gear has various bits of gear either in black boxes or the green ones. They have nothing in the pale yellow boxes, and since they don't carry any CV gear in Nikon s mount, I suspect the pale yellow boxes were used only for them.
