Voigtlander Color Skopar 20mm F3.5 SL II Aspherical?

Given that the SL and SLII lines have offered excellent and very well respected products it makes sense that CV continues to extend this line and going wide makes a lot of sense in today's APS-C world. This doesn't surprise me, though it would be really really cool if it was a 20/2 lens.

I'm fat dumb and happy with the 3.5 and a 52mm filter size. Pres K has some great ideas up his sleeve it seems.

I'm wondering if a market will develop for APS size lenses? The Nikon mount is well understood and the 4/3M mount is "Open" (read for a fee). Nikon just announced a 35/1.8 for their smaller sensor cameras only. If a market starts to develop I could see a 18/2.8 coming out for it. 20/2 is a BIG chunk of glass to carry remember.

That is a very useful lens for analog and digital. I have a very good experience with the 40 SLII and I will definitely buy this lens if the price is as attractive as is for the other SLII lenses.
Any info about price??

Is this the only store showing this lens? I would suspect an official announcement at PMA then.

If it isn't way out there with regards to barrel distortion, I'll probably be getting this lens.

Here ya go (see below). I gotta say the idea of this lens is really growing on me. I'm glad they went for the 52mm filter size / f3.5 max. aperture combo. More preferable in my opinion to the current Ai-S 20mm f2.8 with its 62mm filter size.

Ahh, 52mm threads. THAT was what I was hoping! I have managed to put together a top-notch (I think) kit all at 52mm and this will complete it. Thank you, sir.

My thoughts exactly!

I used to have a bunch of lenses with various different filter thread sizes, but have now trimmed the collection to just lenses with a 52mm filter thread size. This and a nice late s/n AI-S 200mm f4 with SIC multi-coating will round out my kit nicely.

Anyone know if this will meter with a Nikon D40/D60?

Cheers,
Phil

It should be the same as the other SLII lenses, but I don't know the Nikon world so I can't answer your question directly.

In the Pentax world that means this will be an A lens which will meter in all modes on a Pentax DSLR.

I hope someone does a comparison between this lens and the well regarded 20mm f3.5 AIS; which has been on my shopping list for a while. At least now I have a choice.
