Voigtlander Color Skopar 20mm F3.5 SL II Aspherical?

I can't imagine the CV performing any better than the 20/3.5 AIS Nikkor. Still, it's nice to see CV comitment to MF Nikon bodies.

Perhaps not, but if the new lens renders colours like the rest of the CV lineup (slightly on the warm side), I'll be happy. The AIS 20/3.5 only ever got Nikon's NIC multi-coating so renders images with a cooler (slightly blueish at times) look. As a slide film shooter, Nikon's later slightly warmer SIC multi-coating (from 2001 onwards) is more to my taste.

I hope someone does a comparison between this lens and the well regarded 20mm f3.5 AIS; which has been on my shopping list for a while. At least now I have a choice.
Performance-wise, it would be interesting to see that comparison. However the fact that this lens is 'chipped' means that it will meter on lower end Nikon cameras, such as the lower D- numbers and many film cameras like the N80.

The latest Asahi Camera magazine (out yesterday) has a writeup about the new CV 20/3.5 - all good except for the fact that it exhibits some barrel distortion. The distortion is not as bad as most zoom lenses, but still noticeable, and enough for the writer to be disinclined to use the lens for architectural work. Guess we'll have to wait and see how it performs in the real world.

My thoughts exactly!

I used to have a bunch of lenses with various different filter thread sizes, but have now trimmed the collection to just lenses with a 52mm filter thread size. This and a nice late s/n AI-S 200mm f4 with SIC multi-coating will round out my kit nicely.

I ended up with the 28/2.8 AIS, 50/1.2 AIS (or sometimes the 45P), 85/1.8 HC AI'd, and 105/2.5 AIS. I like your idea of the 200/4.

Seems that at least Foto-Mundus in Germany has started to sell this lens on evilBay with 399 euros, postage not included. If that's going to be the level then I might as well get me a Nikkor 20/3.5.
