Well I noticed a fairly large particle inside the lens between the shutter and the rear element. So I removed the shutter lens assembly from the camera, removed the front and rear elements and was able to blow off the particle. Cleaned the threads inner and outer and then went to clean the elements and suddenly noticed more particles. It turns out they are coming off the inner brass base, the black paint is flaking off.
Decided to clean the brass more until the paint stopped coming off, greased the threads and reassembled the unit into the camera. When reinstalling the retaining ring on the bellows back side, I noticed that it threaded a lot further onto the threads than when I removed it, strange but everything seems fine.
So has anyone experienced this before. I decided to just reassemble without repainting because the area would be hidden when re threaded into the housing. I have used a flashlight and see no reflection but will test a film in bright light without a lens hood.
So anyone else experienced this before, if so what did you do.
