Ultron @ f2 on Natura 1600! Really impressed with its coma control. Its right up there with the Zeiss Distagon 35mm f1.4 and far better than the Zeiss Biogon 35mm f2.

Great photos Jon! You make Natura 1600 look great. I never warmed up to that film, but if I was getting results like that I would have shot it more. Maybe it is best in the night cityscape arena?
Coma control of the new Ultron is impressive indeed. Beating the Summicron asph. perhaps?
Thanks Will! I find I get good results when I over expose Natura 1600 by one or two stops, and err on the side of more exposure rather than less. A shame Fujifilm discontinued it though. I've only got three rolls left now
Here's a couple more from the same roll.

Ha! Michael came around!
On his picture some barrel distortion is visible in the extreme corners. I am nitpicking here.
Erik.
Michael did indeed visit Tokyo. Was great fun hanging out with him! I noticed that the barrel distortion is a little more pronounced at close distances, but still very acceptable for me as I much prefer it over pincushion distortion. At further distances its practically non-existent. I'm quite ok with that design decision by the Cosina lens designers.
Michael did shoot a few frames with the Ultron, but I think he prefers that extra stop of the Distagon! It looks like Michael still has that Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/1.4 on his M6TTL. Did you convince him to try the Ultron?
Best,
-Tim

Thanks, Mike. Those pix give a decent sense of the lenses out of focus areas. Is that photo of the lamp at f:2?

Hi Benjamin,
I shot that at f2.2 or, whatever one click to the right of f2.0 is.

Hi! Is anyone else's CV 35/2 Ultron focusing closer than the 0.58m as advertised? Think their quality control of the lens is rather lacking (from the sheer overabundance of grease and this). Please let me know if I just got a really bad copy!

Mine has this feature/bug too, but then so do a lot of my other lenses.

Mine stops at the same place too! And, I don't care.

Dude, stop sweating over non-problems!
Extra grease happens. Just wipe it off.
Lots of lenses focus a little closer than advertised. Isn't that a good thing???

it is, if focus is correct at infinity

Haha thanks for the heads up Jon. I've never had issues like this compared to my Leica and Zeiss M lenses so it's all new to me. 🙃
But I must say, it's a fine lens otherwise.

Your M4 with M3/2 levers is looking sharp. You need the rewind lever too!

Reminds me of the hearse song...
"The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out,
The worms play pinochle on your snout."
Again, I must be giving away my age.
Some more of my recent shots!
