Voigtlander Ultron 35mm F2 Aspherical Images

My thoughts on Miss Ultron ... a gurly perspective :p

*Beautiful compact build
*black paint or chrome all rather sexy
*my kind of focusing tab
*Easy to Focus, slides right into place
* Mellow signature, not too overt with a lovely hint of 3d pop
* Holds up well in difficult lighting, pretty star shape lights
* No jittery bokeh
Yum !

Amazing images. Congratulations, all!

A wonderful lens with unique rendition. I have its close (but not quite up to par) relation, the Zeiss Contax G 35/2 Planar. Sadly, I do not really use it enough, as I nowadays shoot so little film and converting it to digital use is too expensive. So it sits mostly unloved in my camera cabinet. Now and then I think about selling it, but I dither and then defer. It is just too, well, special.

If Voigtlander ever produces one of these for LTM, I will be buying a Leica iiif or iiig in a lightning-flash.

That sums it up nicely, Helen.

Thank you, Jamie. Here is a photo of my granddaughter, taken at f2.8, again using a Leica M-E 240, with a .jpeg image straight out of the camera (no post processing). I like the bokeh and nice separation between in focus and out of focus areas.

The more I shoot with this, the more the tonality reminds me of the Biogon 35 f/2 ZM - it really favors dark mid-tones and gives images an almost charcoal-like quality to the draw. Thankfully, it's size is much nicer than the Biogon. Here are a few from last week - all on a Zeiss Ikon ZM with Tri-x in Rodinal 1:50

I don't love the out-of-focus wide-open, but I do love some swirl...so...it's a mixed bag on that front:

I feel this too - it has a 'heaviness' in the midtones that makes the output have a really strongly defined look/feel - especially in black and white.
Those portraits you're posting are really striking!

Funny, I have yet to see a 35mm lens render out-of-focus areas more beautifully than the Ultron. I love the look it gives your portraits. Just the right amount of character while remaining sharp and contrasty.

Many 35mm lenses (most wide-angles in general) are much busier wide open. As a 50mm guy this lens is all I need for the occasional day where feel like going a little wider.
