Voigtlander VC Meter Copy? The "DOOMO D"

Baaa ...

Actually I don't like Leicameters. But handheld meters (along with smart phone apps, which work very well) require an extra hand and take a little more time.

... so I use a Leicameter ...

I should have never sold my last M6!

No comments needed aside from a summary of the best responses, in a narrative:

Personally, cost is not a factor in choosing a camera accessory, rather quality.

My friend showed me this last August. I wouldn't waste money on this. Seems a bit stupid to save only half the money of a vc ii to get a low quality build and support rip-off culture.

Using such a meter makes a beautiful camera less beautiful. Is it worth it? I prefer just having my phone with me, and use the meter as needed.

I just replaced the battery in my M6. It is a "classic" with .85 finder.

I'm still waiting for someone to make a modern Leicameter - one that couples to the shutter speed dial. Also one for Nikon RF.

I never, ever understand why people don't use the MR-4 meters on the pre-M6 cameras. Couples with the SS dial, very accurate, and the meter area corresponds with the 90mm VF marks. In fact owning an M6 when they first came out I dump it and when back to the M4 & M4 meter.

I find amusing how in the last year many new shoe mounted meters popped up. Raveni labs started the trend and then quite a few others followed.

Having a Fuji GW690 that is unmetered, I have thought about the idea and a sub $50 meter would be a nifty addition. Though shipping and customs does not make it as desrable. In the meantime I prefer to spend $ on film and I have a quite good Sekonic 308.

The irony....

I’d rather label it, "the tragedy"...."Designed in California" is Apple's deceit. For how long, I wonder.

The paucity of low-tech protective gear in the world (gloves, masks, plastic gowns) during this 2020 Nightmare left us at the mercy of makers of the "small things" we either ignored or have forgotten about altogether.

Seems a bit stupid to ... support rip-off culture.

Death by a thousand cuts.

I have absolutely no idea where you get such an idea.

I worked for Apple for more than a quarter of a century. My friend Paul designed three of the displays, other personal friends designed the case, the logic, the processor, etc ... All right here in Cupertino, California, USA. And they're all busily working on the next versions now.

What do you mean by "..Apple's deceit. For how long, I wonder."? Saying nonsense like that is just another way to introduce suspicion and mistrust into people's hearts for no reason other to promote your own personal agenda.

The Globalist Jerksquad believes you can continue to design things here and make it in the PRC, where IP theft is a national priority and production there means "partnering" with an industrial concern that's partly or wholly owned by the Government or its Party notables. Transfer of some critical technology is usually part of the "deal".

The 'deceit' lies in thinking that this relationship can last forever.

Apple has done quite a lot to improve conditions for a lot of good people there. And has changed practices when what they've worked for has not worked out as hoped. You can't do business with *anyone* in China without in some measure doing business with the Government/Party.

Do you propose that Apple and any other business not doing anything with the Chinese people at all would be a better way of promoting understanding and good will, international peace, and perhaps a wisp of the potential for change? Isolationism has never worked to anyone's ultimate benefit in the past... why would it now?

To call it a deceit is simply an expression of your own prejudice.

I carry no prejudice in the matter. I would have preferred that items of a critical nature like tech & pharma, be made by nations who share our regard for IP, like Taiwan or South Korea. Even Vietnam has become a safer place for such things.
