i really like the vuescan software, and i plan to buy the full version...its definitely a step up (imo) from the epson software which came with the V330.

I'm just a little disappointed in that my laptop freezes whenever i try to scan at 4800 dpi. to be honest, 2400 is good enough, but i still want to know why it wouldn't scan any higher than that.

I'm currently using 64 bit osx Lion. The vuescan I installed works in 64bit mode, and in 32 bit mode also...but same results, still not able to scan above 2400 dpi.

has anybody had a similar problem? i did a bit of searching around on other forums, and found a few others with the same problem, but no answers. wondering if anybody here might know what's wrong...thanks....

I didnt have this problem thou...

I have alot of other problems understanding how vuescan works. Im using a flatbed scanner and it seems like i cannot select only those frames that i wish to scan. Unlike my canon software, i can tick and untick the selections.

I oso cant figure out why vuescan cannot assigned a file name automatically to the scans when saving...

You can - You can't tick frames as such, but you can type in frame numbers and ranges; and it can, based on a name template you give it, and will even fill in holes in the numbering sequence.

There's a bit of a steep learning curve with VueScan but it offers manual control over pretty much every facet of scanning. Read the docs.
