Vuescan what a pain in the neck...

Interesting comment because in using Vuescan for 8-9 years I learned not to bother with most of the options. I have used the same settings for 5-6 years.

The problems that I had were many, and trying to scan color was an exercise in frustration. I think that it's best to get the color as accurate as possible during the scan and then make final adjustments afterward.

I just found the software to be too clicky and finicky. I know that many people love this software. I wasn't one of them.

In a previous post, I mentionned that I tried Silverfast (demo), and that it wouldn't reckognize my scanner...

Reading the HELP file, I noticed that it's recommended to UNPLUG all other scanner, printer, etc... before to use Silverfast 😱 ! I can't believe it !

...so I tried the demo version of Vuescan, installed it in less than 5 minutes, scanned rapidly (!?!) 4 or 4 negatives then..... went back to the Vuescan site, and paid for the PRO version ! Of course, I will have to LEARN more the tips and tricks, but for a start, I was very happy !

Here's a screen-copy of a comparison of 2 scanned versions of the same negative (thank you Faststone !). The left image has been scanned at a photo-labo (!) and the right one with Vuescan on my scanner Reflecta CrystalScan 7200 ! What a difference 😀 !

How do you batch process?

How do you batch process?

I am using vuescan on my macbook pro and epson 4990 scanner. I cannot
set it up to scan 4 strips of film while I get a coffee.

It stops after each scan and asks me if I want to san the next frame!

it is set for say 1-12, 'batch'. it does the preveiew, asks to correct each frame then scans and then stops.

please help.

Are you trying to scan 35mm or 120 format?

Leaving everything on Auto worked for me with 35mm.
Still it remains not an easy task...
