I have been using Vuescan software with my Epson V700 scanner for more than a year. In my Input settings I had checked the boxes to opt for batch scanning and 2 passes scanning.
Recently I could not find the Batch Scan box (and its corresponding List box) and also the Number of Passes box in my Input pull down menu. They just disappeared. As a result I am now unable to do batch scanning and 2 passes scanning.
I hope someone can help me.

hi,
try messing around with less and then advanced several times. Or delete the ini file and it will default to a factory setting.
hope this helps. one of the filename settings disappeared and
the above worked to recover the setting.

Check mark "on" the "Scan From Preview" button.

Tried both suggestions by ratoei and vbsoto but to no avail. I even disconnect the cables, shut down the machines and restart them. Didn't work.

try downloading the most recent update. This usually resets everything.
I know, I know, there probably is nothing in the update that relates to your scanner but do it for the reset.

Bob, thanks. I downloaded an update as suggested by you and lo and behold, it's sorted out now. Thanks to this fantastic community.

Can't believe it. The batch scan and number of passes selections have disappeared again.

Send an email to the developer. He might have instructions on his web site on what to send along- maybe the log file? He's pretty good at responding. Maybe not within fifteen minutes, but in a day or two (hey, it's one guy, not Adobe).

Have you checked your Crop settings? If they are not set right, the batch scanning options don't show.
From the manual:
From the manual:
This option is displayed when the scanner is capable of batch scanning or when you set Crop | Multi crop.

I don't know but could this be a Preference (Mac) or Application data (PC) problem. I know that sometimes on the Mac trashing the Prefs file and restarting the program can iron out weird bugs.

This is embarassing but CNNY is right. My Multi Crop setting was off. I have turned it on to 35mm and Batch Scan is back again. I still do not have Number of Passes on my menu though.

One of the most annoying things about the vuescan interface is that settings in one tab alter settings in other tabs. I recommend reading the manual, and saving and reloading your settings when you have it working the way you like. It is the only way to really feel in control.

Take a look at the book, "The Vuescan Bible". I've a copy on my Nook for when I have problems with my settings.

Don't feel bad. I had the same issues when I pulled my scanner from hibernation. As mentioned, when you have things dialed in, save it as a preset.
I lost the batch scan more than once, and the crop setting is not intuitive to the problem. Hence my answer was wrong.

Try reloading the older version of Vuescan. Multipass on flatbeds can be problematic and the author may have disabled it in the newer versions to avoid headache emails.

I am resigned to not having "Number of Passes" in my Input menu. If it reappears, it reappears.
To quote "the Vuescan Bible" at pg 12 (just for a little laugh) :
"For beginners who are not familiar with the software, this can be quite confusing. You can waste a lot of time searching for an option that magically seems to have disappeared—and when you give up searching, it may pop up again in the same mysterious manner."
