Doc, sorry for bumping an old thread, what do you think about the tripod mounted Gordy? I am thinking about vertical strap, one end on the lug, and the other on the tripod mount. But I was concerned about how the camera would sit with the screw on the bottom, also will I need to unbutton it every time I need to load new film? Thank you!

Jonathan, no need to unscrew the strap if you change films but you can't keek the camera safely hold by a strap around your neck when changing films. Quite a hassle and similar to the CL where you have to separate parts on the strap when opening the back.

So two lug strap is still a more practical choice, you'd say? It does look fancy with one end on the tripod mount but practicality is a big factor. Also, if I can remove the bottom when I change film without unscrewing the strap end, does that mean it doesn't go all the way to the body shell? As I understand it the tripod mount is on the shell itself not just the plate.Keep not keek, Shinkansen and iPhone ...

Jonathan, the tripod mount screw of all Leicas (except for the digital ones, which are no real cameras) is just in the baseplate and not the shell.

Alright noted on that, Doc, thanks. Note to self: Put at least one Leica on your work desk for reference. :bang:Jonathan, the tripod mount screw of all Leicas (except for the digital ones, which are no real cameras) is just in the baseplate and not the shell.
