The W-nikkor 35mm f1.8 in ltm vs the UC Hexanon 35mm f2 in ltm

Anyone used either or both?
From what I've read they share the same formula, but how do they compare to each other? the only three things I can find out about them are

Price is about the same
.2 f-stop difference
The Hexanon has more modern coating.

What else should I know?

Thanks,

Thanks,

1meter minumum focus for both the Nikkor and UC Hex.
When I owned the W nikkor and this was rarely an issue.

Now I own the Hexar af which has a very similar formula f2/35mm (maybe same).
The Hexar focusses to .6m and I have to admit now that I've had it, .... I don't want to live without it 🙂

Also the Nikkor can look very squirrly at wide open and close focus. Sometimes not a bad thing but occasionally too wild.

Thanks Andy. Didn't know about the minimum focus concering the UC hex (for some reason thought it would be 0.9meters).

ALso, I too have the Hexar af, but I hate the camera itself. I'm kind of tempted to send the whole thing off to MS Optical for a conversion. Thouhg I'm not sure if that would give me a 0.6 coupled and I hate the ideal of trashing a perfectly working Hexar AF to do it.

The Nikkor is less "squirly" when stopped down to f2. BTW, f1.8 is almost half stop faster then f2.

Also, my Nikkor glass is yellow, has 9 aperture blades and 43mm filter with 0.50mm pitch.

Contrast, resolution and distortion (quite noticable) are similar between Nikkor and Hexar AF, f2 and up.

Roland.

Sorry, while I have the UC Hexanon, I only have the w-Nikkor in Nikon RF mount, though I do have it in both vintage & updated modern (SP 2005) versions. However, I once shot a friend's band w/the modern W-Nikkor & the UC Hexanon side-by-side, which was as much of an apples-to-apples comparison as I could get (https://www.flickr.com/photos/furcafe/sets/72157646264333568). Not a lab test, but I didn't see much difference in the negs. The only person I know who has a SP 2005 W-Nikkor that was converted to LTM or M mount is jonmanjiro, unless he sold it.

Anyone? I see a lot about UC Hex vs Summicron v4, but not much else.
