I deleted my previous image because I didn't have a high res version on hand.
A violin's back and top shape are referred to as their "arching".
It's not high art but I think it's visually interesting. This was shot with the help of a laser.
It's a 1731 Stradivari, by the way, with a typical for the period but not usual earlier, very broad, full arch.

If a 1731 Stradivari is not high art, I'm not sure what is...
 
Is this the Double Arch that collapsed recently? Before and after shots would be interesting.
