"The Hebrew Field" is an area used as graveyard by the hebraic community of Ancona since XVI century. Abandoned in the XIX century, is now a public park.
Dear departed Mills was clearly a very manly sort of man or, at least, was a bit insecure about it and wanted to proclaim for all eternity the very upstandingness of his life in vivid symbolism. Anyway, that's one Freudian interpretation of this rather phallic grave marker.
