Sometimes strange things happen at cemeteries.

This is a rather large (220+ acre) local cemetery where local residents are interred from the U.S. Civil War to the present. I shot one close-up of a nice marble obelisk with a dramatic shadow cast on the ground. It was one of forty shots taken that day. My wife viewed the photos and remarked that she had wondered what had happened to Doctor XXXXXX. It turns out that she hadn't seen him for two years and it was his modest monument that I had photographed. Just out of respect, I won't post that photo.

Here is one photo from the same cemetery:

Found photo....visitors to this secluded 1800's cemetary often leave gifts in the children's section. On my most recent visit, I found that a coin had been left in tribute on each individual head stone.

Julia Morgan's Chapel of the Chimes: The Moorish- and Gothic-inspired interior is a maze of small rooms featuring ornate stonework, statues, gardens, fountains and mosaics. The name "chapel" refers primarily to the style of interior design, as it is not a traditional cemetery chapel building.

The building maintains its original functions, and also serves as the venue for annual music festivals on the winter and summer solstices.

The full quote by Tennyson:

“Come, my friends,
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.”
