Thin Air, Bright Sun

USS Constellation CV64, Arabian Sea, 1980. Minolta SRT101b. Note the “E” with a slash painted on the flight deck adjacent to the A3 “Whale.” This indicates the Connie has won the Battle E award two consecutive years.

Taken from USS Constellation CV64, Arabian Sea, 1980. UNREP (underway replenishment) with USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CV69. The Connie was finishing a 110 day at-sea stint. Here a helicopter is transferring spare jet engines from the supply ship. Weapons, stores and spare parts were transferred by helo during UNREP.
Haze gray and underway!

Wow, the Ike looks brand new here. At the same time you shot this, I was in The Med on CV67.Connie005a by Joe Van Cleave, on Flickr

Not nearly so glamorous or romantic, this tired and hard working fishing boat, the Wendy Seaa, moored for Thanksgiving and now away, back out to sea fishing off Tillamook in this awful weather.

Does this qualify as a "boat"?

Canoes are special. Anything small enough to be lifted onto a ship is a boat, so I guess this would classify. ;o)

A place that not many will travel to, Kwajalein Atoll. Photo was taken from above the bridge of the NOAA ship Discoverer. Kwajalein is the down range end of the US missile test program and security was very tight. We had lost a vital piece of equipment when a cable broke and replacement was being shipped out. We had three days and could only be off the ship during daylight hours.
