It was a cold, blustery day in October, overcast but with occasional flashes of sunlight. Some drizzly precipitation in the form of wet snowflakes. On deck, there was a brisk headwind. Orient Point is the easternmost tip of the North Fork of Long Island; the trip to New London lasts about an hour and a quarter.
 
That ferry is quite different from the ones plying Puget Sound, but I expect those waters are more exposed to ocean weather. And that silver car just coming off is a Tesla, I think, not the most common sight!
