Same story,I started out with a sleeping bag and a stinky canvas tarp, wound up with this. Yeah, it's not camping it's RVing. We're too damn old to sleep on the ground. View attachment 4823537

A bit different from our backpacking/tent camping days. Our last travel trailer with my one and only wife. Not seen is the diesel Dodge Ram 3500 I used to tow the trailer. I really loved that truck but it was totally unwieldy in parking lots and narrow city streets. But it towed that trailer easily.

Funny... Fifty years ago, I would have sneered with contempt at people who "camped" this way. Now, I am so envious!A bit different from our backpacking/tent camping days. It's the Airstreams that got my attention. In Central Florida, including Orlando and around Bushnell there seems to always be one for sale and also up here in the Scottsboro, NE Alabama area. Need to find a good old pickup truck too. I have seen one that is about the size of the trailer the private investigator lived in near the beach in a TV series from the 70's. Something for next year, which by the way is almost here.
A little inspiration can go a long way, thanks.

The young lady on the right is using her dad's old Canon Rebel 2000. The camera was once neglected, but she dug it out from storage at the grandparents' house. I gave her some HP5+ from my film fridge, and we developed the roll of film together. 😁

Delighted to have found this thread - we’ve been camping since before we met and our girls grew up camping in pretty well every holiday.

From reading this thread I'm gathering that my wife and I missed the message that we are now too old to sleep on the ground! This shot is from last week. Though we did a fair amount of camping in the early 70s we hadn't done any in the interim, and just started up again this summer. I seem to actually be sleeping better on 3.5 inches of air than I usually do in my own bed. Go figure.
