I am liking this little lens. I have the Serenar version. It's TINY and well-finished. It sits on my M4 perfectly, and the aperture ring is snappier than on any other Canon LTM lens I've used.

I'm shooting a chrome Canon 50mm f/1.8, too. For street, I like how these low-contrast lenses behave with the contrast boosted in post.

Very nice photos! This is a terrific little lens, high resolution and moderate contrast, a worthy alternative to the Summaron of the same era. I also have the chrome version, and happily use it on an M2 and a Barnack. The moderate contrast helps to tame bright California sun.

It also does nice things w/ color, IMO. I like the slightly desaturated look that you get from the lower contrast, while the lens is still quite sharp:

I love that shot with the bikes, motion_runner.

Here I am torturing the lens's OOF rendering:

It goes from sharp and 3D in the center to smeary and swirly on the outside. I suppose this might be one aspect of what keeps the lens inexpensive.

I like what I got here, though:

I used it as a fiftyish lens on my R-D1, and it was one of my favourite lens on it. I recently bought a 35mm Summicron, and was thinking of selling the Canon. But then I made a print of this, and now I'm having second thoughts. There is something about the colour rendition of the Canon lenses I have that I really like.

Currently in the process of shooting my first roll (Acros) with the later non-Serenar version on my M3, I'll post some results if I get around to developing it any time soon

Ha, I cut negatives from my first use of this lens before heading in to work. It was also a quick, last minute test roll to be sure a camera was in good shape for a trip so I don't know if there will be anything worth posting here but I'm really excited about this lens. :)

As you should, sevres_babylone, not only do you like it, but Sean Reid indicates that it is very high (top and 2nd respectively) in its ability to hold detail in extreme highlights and shadows of the 35mm lenses he tested on the RD-1.
