W/NW - Classic Cars

This is my Rover P6 2000SC 1966 - looks like an unroadworthy clunker but if i could afford the £3,500 they want to insure the bloody thing it runs and drives beautifully. Its been every colour under the sun, had a few too many bodges but somehow isnt rotten from the C pillar forwards - the boot is not great! Somehow it just keeps going and starts every time despite being sat up!

Plan is paint it british racing green metallic (same colour as my old Rover 216) and just enjoy it. By the time car insurance comes down for me might just be in decent condition.

I just have to ask myself how this car ended up painted with blackboard paint, light up skulls wired into a mk1 cortina key, a straight through exhaust and previously painted purple when this was the same car in 2017:

Jake, my dad bought one of these, sold in the US as the Rover 2000 TC (twin-carb), in January 1968. It was a month after he turned 50. I remember driving that car, and it was amazing. It handled like a sports car and it was probably the most crash-worthy car on the road.

Thanks for posting the photos. I haven't seen one in many years, but I loved that car!

Mike, I remember when these came to the US. It was the first car for this market from Honda, but it was too small for driving conditions here. The first Subaru we got, around the same time, was the 360 (even smaller and with less engine)!

I lived in a small town on the south coast of Portugal, 1978 - 1981, where I had a friend who had a Honda N600. The car was perfect in that driving environment.

The first time I laid eyes on the R34 Nissan Skyline GTR would have been in Japan, and now, 20+ years later, they've trickled into the USA, although the #1 favorite JDM vehicles in the USA by a wide margin are keitora! So much so that today's New York Times had an article about rising sales of tiny trucks, even in states like Texas.

My 1995 Rover 216SLI in Wales last december. This car was bought on a whim as it was the ONLY £500 car I could get with a decent amount of MOT on it (UK roadworthiness testing) it was running lumpy with a MASSIVE power defecit until 4000 RPM where all 109 HP magically appeared after barely moving and being unable to keep up with traffic. This was cured by a general service and fresh fuel. About 6 months later I fell upon some tough times and this car was working doing 150 miles a day in delivery driving and it never let me down. I would even finish my delivery run, clean it and take it to classic car shows later that morning. It was a phenomal car, unfortunately taken out by a 2022 CRV travelling down a single lane road not thinking that there may be other cars also on that road - It really hurt physically and emotionally
