Thanks for posting this but I wonder... Did anyone else think of Alex Clifton Taylor's "Six English Towns" when they looked? They managed these things so much better 6 or 700 years ago.

They understood how to mix light and architecture and designed that in for sure. Catholic churches always face to the east, and I suspect architects of the day took that into account. Modern architects do also, but in terms of Church architecture, I personally prefer the older styles.
