Wild dogs on the prowl in Rose Valley Park near the fairground in Botanica, Chisinau, Moldova. These dogs were in a group of seven and when
we arrived at the fairground a big fight was going on. Not something you'd like to see at a place where a lot of kids are playing. The dog in the
lower right hand corner is the boss. Chisinau, April 2008.

Here is Mama Bear and our baby Bear

Dear Board,

We adopted Bear in late March 2015 after we had to put our dog Avalon down on President's Day 2015. It took me 6 solid weeks to talk my wife Theresa into getting another dog and that was difficult for me because I would have taken any dog I could find the very next day after Avalon was put down.

It's not that I didn't miss Avalon it's that I know she had a good life as did my previous dog Sidney. Either dog would recommend me as a doggy Dad. Theresa had a Husky named Koda for 14 years before I met her so she knew all about dogs and how they get inside you.

I'm of Irish heritage, I get emotional, then I forget and quickly move on. Theresa is of Sicilian heritage and she takes what seems to be forever to get over the slightest emotional hurt. I did not think I could talk her into another dog because of how upset she was to lose Avalon? But being stubborn and Irish, is there any other kind, I kept at it.

Somehow, I managed and this is the result. Bear is a 2 year old rescued pit bull that had a hard early life judging by the bite marks and scars on his face and forelegs. He was either fought or used as bait, but he seems to have forgotten his early life and is content with being the best buddy he can be to Theresa and I. Mama Bear is glad to have her baby Bear!
