W/NW: Dogs

My first dog --Avra-- passed away 3 months after my mom did...
5 years later, my (girlfriend at that time) wife asked for a golden retriever, and after a year or so we got Maya(4.5 yo now)!
Last year we set up a litter and we also kept one of the puppies, Mauve!
As I am writing to you, Maya sleeps just next to my feet on the bed, and Mauve is just next to my wife Fani.
...we have no (human) kids so far...

I can not imagine our life without them!
P.S. I hope our bed description has brought you a smile!

Thank you Varchs.

We had her for 14 years, our daughter never new a time without her.

We have another American Eskimo, like her, who's 7 and you are right. It's never easy to say good-bye.

Many tears were shed at our house last night.

I know this pain. I am sorry for your loss.
There are extremely few people who ever treated me as kindly as my animal friends have.

Don--I am so sad to hear of your pup. They are THE most wonderful creatures--mostly giving, very little receiving. Best to you...
Paul

Don, I am so sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose such good friends. You'll be in my thoughts, because I've been there and know how much it hurts.

Glad I rediscovered this thread. Rulle in the woods late last fall. Tri-X in an F2 with a 3,5/20mm UD.

I can think of no better opportunity than this to quote Henry Beston on the neighbors, friends, guardians and soulmates we find, given grace and luck, among other species:

We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.
