Pass Christian, Mississippi 2007 - This shrimp boat captain was forced to remain on his boat after four days at sea so he could sell his shrimp direct to consumers. He told me the price to the wholesale shrimp buyer was so low because of foreign competition that he would not be able to buy diesel fuel and ice for the next trip. Shrimping is a family traditional occupation passed on from generation to generation so many refuse to give up in spite of economic problems.
