Cueto, Cuba 2016 - A popular black market gas station in town. It is on the main highway through town, so very obvious. No one asks where the fuel comes from. A driver just pays his money and someone dumps in fuel from a container. There is an official government gas station with real pumps a block away. I once stood there for 1/2 hour waiting to photograph a customer but no one stopped.
The Jeep is a máquina (direct translation = machine) which is how Cubans refer to old American cars. This one has been retrofitted with a 4 cylinder diesel engine and been modified to carry 9 passengers as it is used for private transport from town to town. The fare from where it starts to here, 96km, is the equivalent of $.80. They are unscheduled and depart only when every seat is paid for.

Enterprising fueling arrangement, Bob.
There was a similar ad hoc service in Turkey when I was there in the 60's... Typically the vehicle was a private minivan, and the term for it was "dolmus" with a cedilla accent under the s to make it sound like dolmush. Business will carry on!
