Well, yes, it was taken during the Balinese New Year's Even earlier this year, and in this certain, small village it is a tradition for the local youths to have this "perang api", which translates as "fire war". They are throwing clowing outer shells of Coconuts at each other.
Photographically speaking, for light was little but fast shutter speed required, it had been quite a challenge, just what I love. Most other photographers tried their luck using flashes and longer lenses, my approach using a manual 28mm lens and stepping right into the action seemed to have given some different results.

Because with digital we have to expose for highlights as a rule, I like finding—especially in low light situations—light given off by the things themselves: reflective, yes, but also seeming to emanate or radiate from them as though they were waiting to communicate it to someone who really sees them.
Gore Hill is an old cemetery close to the city at St Leonards, Sydney. It's used as a sleeping place by homeless people.
