Great effect here. They have an odd atmosphere. I like it. Any clues as to how wildly overexposed? Did you do anything to remove the "dye layer" for lack of a better word? Thanks!
These things shouldn't even exist, for real.
Although, they have been pretty heavily post processed on Photoshop.
I went out and shot these with my new Contax IIIa and a Sonnar 1.5.
I had never shot with the camera before, but had checked it out and it seemed to be metering properly. Turns out to have been a sticky needle.
However, once I got out on the street, my brain turned to mush as I read the meter. It showed 1/50 at f2, which is what I insanely set it at. Lol... I don't know what I was thinking. I was on auto-mode or something. That happens to me occasionally when I'm sort of "in the moment."
Anyway, every one of the shots shown in this car show set were taken at 1/50 @ f2 without a filter in afternoon shadow from buildings and/or full slanted sun. Crazy.
And no, I didn't pre-soak the asa 200 color film or do anything special. I was sloppy about it thinking it was gonna be a complete bust anyway.
I convinced myself to go ahead and develop the roll since I had just barely enough solution B of HC-110 already mixed that needed to either be used or tossed since it was looking pretty dark and old.
So I developed it for about 6 minutes and hung it to dry. At that point I could just barely see some image
showing. It looked underdeveloped, dense with too much silver still on the frames.
The fact that I was able to get any image at all really shows the amount of latitude possible in film. I don't think this would ever be possible using a digital camera at all.
So, after telling this little story of a fortuitous accident or serendipity, I'll post a couple more from the same roll. I don't claim these to be good in any way, but they are interesting and rather unique. Perhaps they are good as an example of what not to do. Lol
🙂
I'm just saying, It's really not necessary to spend a lot on those expensive Holga's and Lomo style toy cameras or cell Phones to get interesting artsy images.
