Nothing flash, just testing how close, the closest focus was with a Pentax 645n + the P67 55mm f/4 lens, on HP5, no crop

There's a town called Worgl in the Austrian Tirol. Every year, or so it seems, these guys appear in large numbers. This happens at the end of May. They're about 5cm long and I haven't seen them fly, although I assume they do. They are, for some reason, restricted to the square just outside the town's retirement home...

I'm not sure what happened to this chap, but it looks uncomfortable 😱 ...
