W/NW: My Dad

Lost him almost not 2 weeks ago. Fortunately, there were magicians at work in the OR and wizards in the IC. So, he's still with us.

_My dad in hospital_

Good to hear, Remy. I have a similar shot of my father after quadruple by-pass surgery which followed his heart attack. That was about 5 years ago and he's still getting old like he should.

My step-Dad. I was 8 when he married my Mom and he didn't have any children of his own at that time. He grew into being a Dad.

Another from our time in Brazil back in May. Was shot on APX400 with the Hexar AF that Joe currently still has (unless he's sold it already) :D

He's all I got now :) and the experience, while a sad and tiresome one, has brought us closer together...

Oh man, Dave! The empty chair, and your dad looking towards it.....

Hmm... that's a good observation Frank. I never thought of it but now that you mention it; I've been putting a lot of negative space into my images lately. . . I wonder if that's me wishing for someone to be there. . . .

Who knows... :) I can still hear her and feel her so right now it's all good :)

I just got back from a Maritimes vacation where I saw the play Anne (with an e) of Green GAbles, in Charlottown. Near the end of the play, the elderly sister talks to the empty chair of her just deceased brother. I confess to crying during sad movies, and I lost it during this part of the play too. I am such an empath!

Dave, I guess this recent experience primed me for "reading" the photo of your father the way I did.

Just want to dig up this old thread, a tribute to my Dad:

This is Mr. fast swimmer at 66 years of age.
I can probably write a book about my dad. He's my hero. :D

Extra cheers to all the Dads in this thread.

1.5 years ago, my father finally realized his dream of becoming a private pilot. This shot was taken at Christmas 2006 when he took me up for a ride. The other plane is flown by two of his pilot friends who were trying to take some pictures of my father's plane over the Swedish west coast archipelago.

My father. This is a shot from a project I am currently working on.

My apologies for the scan quality (or lack thereof).

Here's my father at a friend's wedding two years ago. He generally looks pretty serious, but he's always up to something foolish. Here, he brought a wooden rooster to the wedding reception because he knew that the bride's sister hated it.

All I could rescue of a film that went thru the baggage x-ray. Last time I saw him alive.

This is my father at 93 on his birthday! Still with us along with my mother at 82 in the home I grew up in in San Diego.

My father had his 59th birthday today. He recently bought a Bessa R, so I gave him a Jupiter-8.
He was very happy. Perhaps he will join RFF soon? :D
