My parents recently dropped by to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday. My Mom asked that I take some photos of him, since he spends so much time behind the camera, there are very few photos of him. We went down to my garage, hung an old blanket for a back drop, and I tried to figure out how to work the old flash.

My dad taught me to be a photographer and a decent human being. A photo of him got me my first widespread attention and after that I started calling him "Half Dome," since he was to me what Yosemite was to Adams. Here are a few photos of him that I hope he'd be proud to have shared with y'all.

I miss you, Dad. More than words or pictures can convey.

My dad, while stationed in Japan during the Korean War. His Canon IVSB in hand, that is now repaired and making photos for me.

Let's see if this works... Generational photo that I'm thinking about printing up large (27"x40") and hanging in the house:

maggieo, very nice. After saying goodbye to my dad last week at the age of 89, those are very touching.

dbm, so cool you have his Canon. My dad shot a Nicca in Korea and Japan.

My Dad and Mt. Fuji, this would be about 1951. He flew the Douglas A-26 Invader and was a weather officer in the 13th Bomb Squadron.

My father passed away a few years ago. This photo was from the last time we went out for ice cream together. My biggest regret is not taking more photographs of him.

Maggie O. Very moving. My own father died two and half years ago. I am currently gathering pictures of him for my kids. Here is one from before my father became ill.
