Love this. Great shot.
But I have a question, you were out there by yourself in the middle of the night? If so, you're braver than I am. I was there about 6AM on a July Sunday in 2015, by myself, and it was the most desolate place I have ever been. Took pics for about ten minutes and then heard movement behind one of the back sheds, and got out of there before I found out what kind of animal it was making the noise.
Love the history of the place, such a shame it's so abandoned.
Best,
-Tim

Yep, all by myself. Probably one of those things our mothers would warn us to never do! Never know where there's a hole in the ground to twist an ankle, or a snake waiting to bite... I went back behind the building (or buildings? I don't remember now) and there were a couple derelict trailers and vehicles back there. Another hazard is the various scattered debris to trip over, etc. This place had it all! Indeed, its very remote. Last I heard, some of old Rt. 66 is closed due to washouts and I think it includes this section. You can still go to Roy's in Amboy but no farther east than Cadiz depending on who you ask.
Troy Paiva has a good story about shooting at a place like this, and while walking around doing his lighting he felt a tug on his leg. Big spider web! Then when the photo was over, he looked down with his flashlight and there was a giant spider on him, its body as big around as his thumb! Of course, that could happen in daylight too but at night its even more creepy.

Yeah Charles, when I was out there in 2015 I had to drive west of it on I-40, then drop down just east of Roy's and backtrack along old Rt. 66 to get to the RoadRunner. The road was definitely closed. Was worth the trip.
