W/NW Night Photos

Stars above Tahoe National Forest. A 1.5 hour, west-facing exposure at f/8.

On a side note, does anyone know if that horizontal streak might be one of SpaceX's Starlink satellites? I can find live and forecasted trackers, but haven't been able to find historical flight paths. Have any other astro photographers here run into issues with "pollution" from Starlink satellites? I saw one recent article about Starlink ruining shots of NEOWISE.

Taipai-metro: I am really liking you b&w night shots. The blocked up shadows and burnt out highlights tell the viewer they were really shot at night and subconsciously portray that mood.

I used to want to see big grain indicating it was hard pushed iso 400 film or something the old Kodak 2475 high speed recording film. But I have learned to live with the no grain digital image. Not liked no grain, only learned to live with it.

Decades ago I shot much at night, always b&w film. I kept experimenting with developers until I could print photos that almost looked daylight like. Then I finally concluded that I really did not like the results as they were diminishing the uniqueness of shooting at night. So I went back to the blocked shadows, burnt highlights, and big grain.
