As an avid railfan I shoot a lot of train pictures, the vast majority of which are shot with my Pentax DSLR and a zoom lens. Once in a while, however, I'll pull out the D2 and grab a shot or two--I like the "character" of images taken with the camera. If you're a railfan a photo of a stationary engine is called a "roster shot" but it could just as well be a portrait.
CP 5719 is a venerable old EMD SD40-2 built in 1975. She has served CP Rail for 35 years, first as mainline power roaming the system but now--looking a little tattered and worn--relegated to the lowly duties of a local switcher...
I caught her sitting in the yard in Ashcroft, B.C. in March of this year.
