Artists, and perhaps photographers especially, are people who look, and think. Dangerous activities, and it's all too understandable that the Good People of the world want to throw artists and thinkers in jail. It's always been so.A photographer of ordinary things and an early source of inspiration for me was Wright Morris. He photographed ordinary things in their context to evoke memories of the people and character of a rural way of life that was in the process of disappearing. You would think that such an interest would not produce suspicion or controversy, but Morris' pursuit earned him a night in a southern jail.View attachment 4841330

What’s more ordinary than an ironing board…except when commanded by a cat?

In Szarkowski’s Lookimg at Photographs he includes a photograph of a car by Wright Morris. I learnt a lot from that one photograph and Szarkoski’s analysis of it. Still more work for me to realize what I’ve leant in actual execution, but one day. Great to see that book. Must look for a copy.

I really loved that camera, man. The viewfinder is awesome for a glasses wearer. I ended up selling it to a buddy and may or may not regret it!Ah, the elusive 35-LC. In some ways I prefer it to its successor, the 35sp.
