Before reading the dictionary definition of pictorialism in the OP, I had understood it to be a deliberately romantic portrayal of reality. Jarring elements are absent, but I don’t think that necessarily implies post-exposure manipulation: you can just leave things out, as you would when painting. So I imagine these 3 snaps from my iPhone would probably be classed as pictorialism, even though apart from resizing they are exactly as captured:
