This photo needs an explanation. Taken a few weeks ago at a peaceful rally in my small town. The organizer of the rally, with his hands up, approached several police asking if the group of protestors could march down Main Street. The cops had no problem with that and the group marched without incident.
Gibara, Cuba: workplace discrimination, neither gender or ethnicity, does not exist in Cuba even in policing. She was cordial, had long blonde hair, and a big smile. But when I raised my camera, the helmet went on and the smile became a look of all business. She is know for being friendly but never cutting anyone any slack. Everyone says when she stops you, you know you will get a ticket and never just a warning.
Helen: great observation and capture. I love the dichotomy between the two officers with weapons at the ready, diligently scanning the environment while the third so casually sits in the back seat.
