W/NW: Police Department

I do wish posters would indicate where they are from and/or where the photo was taken. Something without perspective is meaningless in most cases. Unless your only interest is what lens or what developer.

You could always ask if you were curious. I tried to post a couple of "universal" images that could have been taken anywhere rather than get bogged down in the details. Specifically, there was a rally up here in the mountains of north GA last year that was organized by a known member of the KKK. Antifa members got word and vocally called for a protest. Local gov't got involved and called in hundreds of police in from neighboring communities to stand guard over the area.

Anyway, the first image I found humorous, with the big military-like vehicle parked haphazardly in front of a "3-hour parking" sign, while the other speaks for itself I think.

Both were included in a small show up here I did highlighting various political actions and broadly that specific day (I live there).

To this old git they all, with a few exceptions, look like combat troop waiting for action and armed to the teeth for it.

I can remember a time when coppers carried just a wooden baton about 15" long and it was kept hidden in a special trouser pocket. It had a leather thong at the end and you'd be in trouble if you left the thong dangling outside the pocket...

Regards, David

PS The older ones told me that the short capes they carried made a good weapon when rolled up tightly. That wasn't all they told me but sensitive or impressionable people might read this...

Helen: great observation and capture. I love the dichotomy between the two officers with weapons at the ready, diligently scanning the environment while the third so casually sits in the back seat.

Very kind of you to comment , Thank You Bob
Greatly appreciated!

I was fortunate not to get in trouble for getting in to close.
They were amongst a lot of other ‘security’
waiting for President Bush / Jr
to come down from his suite at the Waldorf Towers and head to the UN

^^ Brings back some memories... All that bulk and weight hanging on the belt can really get uncomfortable.

Paseo de Prado, Havana, Cuba. Policeman writing an official notice for "suspicion of prostitution" to new girl in town. Five official notices for suspicion results in arrest. Cuba does not have "innocent until proven guilty" as part of their judicial system. So once a policeman has written a woman 3-4 notices for suspicion, he then can control her. These working girls are generally considered more ethical than the policemen.
