Few know much about the klan but I've followed and documented them for over forty years. Meetings are conducted as religious services. The burning of the cross is to enlighten the world about Jesus.

Symbolism aside, thats a wonderful photograph x-ray and seemingly a wonderful series.

The Festival of the Virgin of Regla, a Santeria event, was September 7th this year. Regla is a municipality of Havana Cuba. Santeria is an Afro-Cuban religion which is a illogical combination of Western African religion with some attributes of Catholicism. The core beliefs differ dramatically from Christianity. The Virgin of Regla is represented in Santeria as Yemaya, the female spirit of the sea and also of love. Her color is blue. Both the Catholic Virgin of Regla and the Santeria spirit of Yemaya are represented by the famous statue of the black Madonna with white child brought from Spain in the 17th century. Both religions worship simultaneously in the church in Regla. It is not unusual for a Cuban to move back and forth from one religion to another as their needs dictate.

Most Santeros have a statue of their patron saint or spirit in their home. They will bring them to special events.

The Festival of de la Caridad de Cobre, the patron saint of Cuba, was held September 8th in Centro Habana. La Cridad represents the Blessed Virgin Mary to Catholics. She also represents the deity Ochun, the spirit of love and fertility in Santeria. Her color is yellow. This festival is celebrated by both Catholics and Santeria.
