W/NW Show me your nice fountain pens

You guys are so bad. Now I started to catch the bug of fountain pens.

My earliest recollection of fountain pens are playing around with my dad's when I was little. Ink bottles, ink blots everywhere except on the paper where I wanted it to be.

So... where to start?
As much as I like to oogle at your "collectible" pens, I just can't justify it. As it happens, I was at the grand opening of a local Daiso last week (think Dollar-store from Japan). And on one shelf, I saw a fountain pen:

What a nice starter pen for me to star learning cursive writing again. The nib is labeled as medium, which is a tad too wide for me. What should I be looking for? Fine nib? Finer... ? :)

fine or extra fine. asian nibs are generally a half grade to a grade finer than euro/american nibs. so, in gross approximation, an asian medium is about a european fine.

Will, gotcha too, I see!:D

Nice looking pen there!!!

Here's my favorite pen for doodles, an Omas Milord in teal with EF nib. The design and color kind of resembles the Staedtler drafting lead holder, and handles like one.

Juju: beautiful pen and it does have a design that comes from technical pens. Though not an artist with a pen, I have a long background of working with technical pens like Staedtler and Koh-I-Noor so I really love the look of this Omas.

Anyone: although a bit off-topic, dies anyone have a recommendation for stationery and envelopes?

pen shmen. what's that ink?

Adam, The black is just Pilot standard Black. The red is A chinese Brand called "Hero" (same as the pen) It is a tad light for my tastes. I had to lay it on REAL thick to get any decent color out of it. But I can't complain too much, it was about one US dollar for a 60ml bottle.

I like your doodles. Do you publish them online somewhere?

Thanks, Will, I only have work related drawings on my website...
Here's another doodle with the other Omas I have, a Paragon. It's not as nimble or sensitive as Milord, but still quite nice in its own way.

Wow. This place is not just full of gearheads, we are multidimensional gearheads.

My Pilot Falcon is my favorite - wonderfully flexible nib, very smooth writing.

How could I missed this one?! It looks great and I love flexible nibs. My Japanese source carries this one and the exchange rate makes it more attractive. :)

I perused the whole website. You have a good grasp of your talents!

But.. your Doodles section is "404 not found"

Thanks for your kind words, Will. Yeah, I made a empty link there to motivate myself to update the website with personal stuff, but got busy with work and my 3-yr-old boy... Hopefully I'll get to it in a few weeks.

Pilot M90, Pilot's 90th anniversary limited edition. The design is from the original MYU that came out in 1971 while some improvements were made like more reliable closure mechanism. Surprisingly smooth writer and a marvel of industrial design IMHO.
